Upon arrival to Cairo, you'll be met by our guides at the airport, who will help you through the customs and visa process. Then, with bags in hand, you'll be whisked away to the hotel.
Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir is ideally located in the heart of Cairo, downtown within a walking distance from the Egyptian Museum and the Arab League building and a few minutes away from Khan El Khalili.
Stay in Cairo's newest hotel right at the city center "Tahrir Square" and get connected to all what the city offers. Take a stroll and be inspired by the majestic buildings, endless night spots where ancient and modern architecture intertwine as one. Visit the Egyptian Museum, right in front of the hotel, and consume the essence of this kaleidoscopic world.
After breakfast, your private Egytologist and tour guide will pick you up to go to Giza. In Giza, you'll see the Great Pyramid, a royal burial chamber and the Sphinx.
Here we'll ride the camels - so no dresses please!
Then we're off to Memphis, capital of the Pharoahs of the Old Kingdom. Visit the recumbent status of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Lunch en route.
Continue to Sakkara to see the prototype of the Pyramids, the Step Pyramid, built for the 3rd Dynasty Pharoah, Djoser, by exalted architect, Imhotep.
Return to hotel. (B,L)
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and last remaining of the original seven world wonders.
This pyramid is also the oldest and largest of the nine at the Giza Necropolis, and is the final resting place of king Khufu. The pyramid was completed in 2560 BC and took around 20 years to build.
After breakfast, visit the Egyptian Museum. This houses a magnificent collection of Pharonic antiquities, including the treasures of Tut Ankh Amun. Lunch en route.
In the afternoon, we'll go to Old Cairo to visit the Citadel of Salah El Din, and the Mohammed Ali Mosque, situated high above the city. Continue to visit the Church of Abu Serga, the Moallaqa Church (Hanging Church) and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest Synagogue in Egypt.
Then back to our hotel for our final night in Cairo. (B, L)
After breakfast, we'll head to the airport for our flight to Aswan. Our representative will meet us at the airport, where we'll start a tour of the Aswan High Dam, Egypts modern example of building on a grand scale.
We'll continue with a short motor boat ride to the Temple of Philae on the island of Agilka. The temple was dedicated to Isis, sister wife of Osiris and patroness of the Ptolemaic Rule.
We'll arrive for dinner and overnight at our Aswan guest house. (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we board our river boat and set sail for Kom Ombo.
We visit the Sobek Temple. The temple is unique for its dedication to two different deities: the local crocodile-headed god Sobek, and the first "god of the Kingdom", the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder.
We'll return to the boat for lunch on board and then relax for the day, as we head down the river to Edfu.

Today, after breakfast, we set out by horse-drawn carriage to visit the Temple of Horus, the largest and most perfectly preserved Temple of the Nile region. Horus, also known as Haroeris, was the falcon-headed solar war god.
In the afternoon, we're back to cruise, with lunch on board, as we head to Esna. We'll cross the locks into Esna.
We visit the great Luxor Temple and the magnificent Karnak Temple of Amun, with it's famous Hypostyle Hall and 134 huge columns. We also see the statue of Ramses II, the Obelisk of Queen Hapshetsut and the sacred lake.
Dinner and overnight on board. (B,L,D)
Pre-dawn, we'll head out for our hour air balloon ride. We'll start at dark and watch the sun rise over the Valley of Luxor. This is a magical experience, and one we think everyone should be able to do.
We'll return to the boat for breakfast, disembarkation and cross to the West Bank of the Nile. We'll visit the wondrous Valley of the Kings, a vast city of the dead, where the magnificent tombs of 62 Pharoahs have been discovered. The tombs were dug deeply into the rich desert rock, adorns with artwork and filled with treasures for the departed to take to the after-life.
Next, visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This beautiful monument, to the reign of the only female Pharoah, rises out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merge with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it.
On the way back, we'll stop at the famed Colossi of Memnon. These colossal statues were known by the ancient Greeks to emit haunting voices at dawn. Though damaged by ancient tourists and the weather, they are still impressive. e'll return to the boat for lunch, then head to Hurghada via air conditioned bus.
We'll arrive at the Golden Beach Resort, where you'll get settled in and enjoy dinner and a Red Sea stroll on the beach.

2 days of relaxing at the all-inclusive resort, snorkeling in the Red Sea, night rides on ATV's or stroll the farmers market.
We'll be sending a selection of optional activities you can choose to partake in. With 2 days at the resort, those who are scuba certified could safely spend the first day scuba diving.
Or take a boat tour, on a glass bottom, speed or sailing boat.

Whatever your choice, it's time to unwind before our trip back to reality. (B,L,D).

Final departure after breakfast. We'll head to the airport where we'll leave for Cairo, then rendezvous with your final departure. (B)
PAYMENT - To keep costs at a minimum, we offer payment plans for both our March and October trips. All payments must be by check or direct bank deposit, so we don't need to add credit card fees. Down payment of $150 per person holds your spot.
Deposits are due by the date set on the website. All deposits are non refundable as per contracted hotel terms. It is highly suggested that you purchase a travel insurance policy that includes provisions for cancellation.
